Michigan B184 Report February 5, 2004 |
Back to B184 updates * Previous * Next
1) There is a regular weekly meeting for muon spectrometer "integration and test", chaired by Jorge at 9:00 am on every Tuesday in BB5. this week we had the first one. I feel this is very useful meeting for coordination. At this tusday meeting. I was informed that: - Italian people will fully move out of bld 184 by the end of this week - the high platform in bld 180 will be used for UM chamber storage. barrel chambers will be moved to LAr cleaning room for storage. - Barrack has been cleaned and the floor will be changed. roof leak has been fixed. likely we will have it next week. - Joerg is keeping pushing the network. Shawn may keep contacting with him about it. I wish Joerg knows what needs to be prepared before Shawn arrives at CERN. 3) Since UM ATLAS team for chamber integration and test at CERN is bulding up, we decide to have regular meeting here at CERN at 3:30 pm on every Thursday in bld 184. 4) current status about the chamber work - Two chamber transportation carts have been mounted, and we succeeded in using bld 184 crane to move 2 chambers (one EML3 and one EMS5) to transportation carts. We are pretty sure this works. also the operator appeared to be very cautious, skillful and coopertive. however, still we need to help watch around to make sure the chamber won't be hurt. The lifting of chamber crate top cover (wooden plate + iron frame) seems a little bit worrysome. we are going to take measures to improve it. T sensors and inplane systems have been tested for this two chambers. - Epoxy has been applied to both multilayer for both chambers. we will start pressurizing one chamber (24 hour epoxy cure time) this afternoon with final ETs. - For the four chambers we opened, the pressure are all about 27-28 psi (except the two multilayers that we know had leaks from ETs), indicating reasonable long term leak tightness. 5) Plans for next week - recertify EMS5C16 chamber, installing electronics to ems5c16 and EML3C01 chambers and do the cr test. - mount the third transportation cart (no space yet) - start another two chambers (epoxy, T sensors, cabling....)
