Michigan B184 Report February 19, 2004

Back to B184 updates * Previous * Next

We made some progress in the last two weeks.

1) Italian group moved out of bld 184 and we cleaned the place they
used befor and re-located some of our parts. Barack has been also
cleaned and three PCs have been set up there.

2) Three transportation carts have been all mounted and two have been
used for flipping the chambers. We have not yet used the third one for
EMS4 type chambers due to the space.

3) Alan, Reza, Li have been almost trained. We know how to glue T
sensors, cabling and test them. We should have no problem to glue
survey targets, B sensor according to what Ed and Curtis instructed,
based on the drawing we have.

Curtis will make rods for EML3 type chamber, and update the
corresponding table for us.

Ed updated the program for testing inplane system and T sensors. It's
more convenient and simple.

4) We have a new version of check list base on the first chamber we
worked on at CERN. This version will be put in our web page. We must
strictly follow the check list for our integration and test.

5) We recertified EMS5C16 chamber with helium. Both EMS5C16 and EML3C01
chambers have been flushed for over 4 volume(at 3 bar).

For EML3C01 chamber, it's ready for CR test. We took 14 hours data
since yesterday evening. we have not yet looked at the data since jeff
left for NIKHEF.

This morning. the PCs are not ready for running the analysis program,
and I have no time yet so far.

There was a problem to initialize the mezz cards. Jeff has contacted
Tiesheng.

Jeff suspect that the CSM we are using may have problem.

6) We are measuring the dark current for EMS5C16 chamber. One sublayer
in one sector (8 tubes) has high dark current. HV/SHH cards and single
tube continuity have no problem. We will use -HV to treat it first.

7) We cabled EMS5A08 chamber.

Next monday, we will move EMS5C16 chamber back to the crate, (EML3C01
has been moved back to crate) and mount ems5a08 to the transportation
card. EMS5A08 needs to be recertified with helium.

It's urgent to have mezz cards. Bing has requested from Tom.

Move each step further appeared to be not easy, however, with the
effort from all of us, I feel that we have past the most difficult
time and have almost set up what we expected. Before working out 2-3
chambers, I think we cannot say that we are on an normal mass
production track. This may still need about one month, I guess.
