Michigan B184 Update April 16, 2004 |
Back to B184 updates * Previous * Next
1) Chamber passing CR test EMS5A08: (chamber with endplug crack, certified to ~2mbar/day) Total number of chamber passed CR test: 10 2) Chambers in progress EML4A03: Ready for CR test. Hopefully it can be done this weekend. EML3C13: Mezz card installed. Will be ready for CR test on next Monday. EML3A15: Crate opened and is now sitting on transportation cart. Needs to be epoxied. 3) Chambers in hospital EMS5A02: After applying epxoy to the location between tube end and endplugs, and tested with vecco, we decided to apply epoxy to all tubes. Alan is doing so today. He is doing wonderfully with the device for applying epoxy from Curtis and Helmut. This work requires extremely careful work and is time consuming. 4) Problems and issues to discuss - Inplane DAQ system does not work properly. Ed is informed and he is coming tomorrow. hopefully he will fix the problem soon. - Chamber logistics: Starting from next week, we may need to transport chambers to bldg 184. I have discussed with Joerg this noon time and we both agree to use the platform in bldg 184 as a buffer for chambers to be moved in and out. This has to be well planned in advance. I think we neeed to inform Mr. Yves Bernard once every week about how many chambers, what types and which date to be moved into bldg 184. - We started to arrange and empty some space for UW team. in any case we should have and seems can have 6 stations to work with. We feel it's very important to have 6 stations to work with. considering the clean room, we can have 7 stations, which is needed since we will have two students soon. - We received short M4 screws, 6mm tubing, green valves... thanks Helmut. - Housing at CERN We find that it's very difficult to find any rooms for people who are going to stay longer than one week. particularly for cheaper ones. - We are somewhat behind schedule due to dealing with the two EMS5 chambers and many other problems, as i have reported to you. however, people are working hard and effectively. we feel we are ramping up. on the other hand, we think we have past the first phase, which is aiming at setting up environment, training experts.... now we feel people are trained and knows how to assume quality, and we are entering a phase of real mass production.
