Michigan B184 Update June 25, 2004 |
Back to B184 updates * Previous * Next
1) Chambers passing CR test
a) Chambers passing CR test this week: EML3A13, EMS4C06, EMS5C06,
EML3A05
b) Total number of chambers passed CR test at CERN: 30
2) Chambers in progress
EML3A11: CR data analysis
EMS5A10: This is the chamber which has had all tubes epoxied. Leak
rate is around 4-5 mbar/day for helium at 3 bar, reduced about
half after applying epoxy. MECCA test done. Dark current
measurement is on on the way. Three tubes so far have high dark
current.
EML3A13: Start dark current measurement
EMS5A16: Cabling done, survey target and B sensor platform glued.
EMS4C04: Cabling done, T sensor and inplane system tested, MECCA test
done. Start measuring dark current.
3) Chambers in hospital
EMS5C14: This chamber is similar to EMS5A10. Leaks were found
between Al ring and endplug nylon (noryl?) at the rate of 10^-6 -
10^-5 ml/sec. Leak rate for top and bottom ML are about 2 and 7
mbar/day for helium at 3 bar. (top multilayer seems not bad). I
think we need to treat this chamber the same as EMS5A10.
4) Problems and other issues,
a) Our Vecco He leak detector was broken by a UW student by plugging
it into 222 V power supply. A new HV power supply was broken by
UW team too.
Yesterday both teams had a joint meeting and we emphasized safety
(personnel, chamber and equipment safety) issue. We also announced
some rules for all to follow. I'm drafting the proposed rules.
b) Parts and tools
Received this week:
- 64 B sensor platforms
- SHH and HV cards (not finishing counting yet)
- 37 type B 1.0m Mezz cables (shipment sheet says type A)
