Michigan B184 Update September 24, 2004 |
Back to B184 updates * Previous * Next
1) Chambers passing CR test
a) Chambers passing CR test this week: EML5A01, EML4C05, EMS5C02, EMS5A14
b) Total number of chambers passing CR test at CERN: 65
2) Chambers in progress
EML5A15: Ready for CR test
EML5C01: Started mezz card scanning
EML3A03: Ready for dark current test (this is the last chamber to be
integrated and tested).
3) Chambers in hospital. none
4) Problems and other issues
a) DCS boxes need to be modified to add a standoff on the
electronics board inside the DCS box. This was known only this week.
All DCS boxes that have been installed and tested need to be removed
to do this modification. This is again quite some work and we may
have to do it during the phase 2. In any case, many chambers will
need to have DCS boxes installed in phase II.
We have made a mark to track DCS box which have been modified.
b) From now on we will work with chambers that have been integrated
and tested before. First we deal with EML5 chambers. For these
chamber we need to:
1) Check long term leak rate
2) Install final ET
3) Replace MB and Mezz card (possibly also SHH card since they
were not washed with acetone)
4) Install modified DCS box and test it
5) Test T sensors and inplane system.
5) Measure dark current
6) Redo cosmic ray test
We found this actually is a pretty time consuming job. We are
collecting experience on how to optimize the work and time.
c) It happend once more that the Ar ran out and the switch didn't
automatic shift to the other gas bottles. I have told Joerg the
problem. This will harm our chambers if the CO2 runs out when
chamber has HV on.
d) The laser printer in bldg 184 has run out of toner. It seems very
hard to find it here. Bing suggested asking Shawn and Jay for
help. i.e. to order two from US and Jay bring one to Freiburg. I
have sent a message to Shawn.
