Michigan B184 Update December 17, 2004 |
Back to B184 updates * Previous * Next
UM chambers
-----------
EML4A07: This is one of the two dropped chambers that was
damaged. It's now sitting on the floor of blgd 184 for mechanical
repair. Curtis is working it. The x-ray tomography for this chamber
is scheduled on Jan. 17, 2005.
UW chambers
-----------
1. Chambers reworked and past cr test this week: 4
EMS3C14, EMS3A08, EML2A09, EIL4C11
2. Chambers in progress
EML2C05: Taking CR data
EIL4C09: T sensor cabling
Problems and other issues
-------------------------
1. EIL4 has 8 tube layers. Thanks to Tiesheng who modified the
program in time so that we can work out this type of chamber.
2. Though the four UW chambers have passed the CR test. Some have T
sensor problems which should be fixed by Matt. There are also some
other things need to be done e.g. add FC in the hole area for
EMS3A08. This piece of FC has to be brought to CERN from Seattle,
according to David. This work has to be done as soon as possible
when people come back from Xmas holiday, otherwise the chambers will
sit there and occupy space and we cannot continue working on the
other chambers.
3. This week we almost cannot get crane in bldg 184 since the safety
review is underway.
4. We would like to use this oppotunity to say thanks to Joe for his
wonderful work done at cern with our team here. Bing and I have been
busy with ATLAS meetings and talks and missed chance to even say bye
to him.
5. CERN is going to shut down today. For the safety consideration,
following measure will be taken:
a) close gas inlet valves
b) close all valves on the chambers
c) shutdown all HV power supplies
d) switch off power supplies to all DAQ systems
e) server, PCs and printers in the clean room in blgd 184 should
be kept on.
f) keep the heater in bldg 184 open, otherwise the hall
will be cool down.
