Back to B184 updates * Previous * Next
Definitions of the numbers listed in Summary table:
N(total) = number of chambers to be worked or reworked at CERN in phase I
N(finished) = number of chamber that have been finished
N(this week) = number of chamber finished this week
1. Summary table
N(total) N(finished) N(this week)
UM 80 80 0
UW 80 80 0
BMC 80 72 6
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Total 240 232 6
2. Chamber finished this week:
BMC:
EIL1C08, EIL2A05, A13, C03, C05, C09
3. Chambers in progress
BMC:
EIL2A15, C15: Started CR data taking
EIS1A08 (H8 chamber): started dismounting old parts.
UW:
4 BIM chambers (for EIL4) - epoxy tubelets.
4. Problems and other issues
a) EIL2 chamber has a sunken region, there are always a few (2-4)
channels that have longer drift time. It is know this is due to
the higher impedience of the copper tubing which bridges the two
gas bars from the chamber to this sunken region. The drift time
become shorter and shorter and finally back to normal while
keeping flushing more and more gas (we usually dump the gas and
then pressurize again).
c) EIS1A08 is now in B184 and we have already started dismounting
the old parts.
d) Five chambers have been setup in B184 for Jay and Jeff to test
readout chain.
e) B sensor cables arrived in Steve's office, we will bring it to
B184 for students to make cables once the length of each type is
defined. So far there are EIL2, EIS1 chambers in B184 and their
length can be measured. One can also measure the length for the
chambers that will be done for phase 1.9.
f) This week UW staff and Bingyun from UM are working in B180 for
phase 1.9.
g) Next Monday we will leave for Rome for ATLAS Physics Workshop.
h) EIL3A05 and EIL2C15 will be transported to the x-ray tomograph
next week.
