You can check the status of your training courses and
access permissions from http://hrt.cern.ch. You must login with your AIS
account, click on the "Persons" link on the left hand side and then click on "Access Details" in the new frame. You
input your name in the search field, and you get all your personal information.
Make sure you have followed the basic training (Level 1,
2, 3) from CERN safety. If not, you can attend it every day at 2pm
and 3pm in building 55. It is a ~ 1 hour video. Remember to bring
your CERN access card with you to validate the course.
Take the ATLAS Level 4 Safety course. This is web based
course, accessible from http://sir.cern.ch with your AIS login. You should
choose ATLAS Safety (level 4A) and not LHC Machine safety. The
course is divided in 4 parts, each followed by a test. It takes 45 to
60 minutes to do all this.
Now you have to request the necessary access rights on
edh; go on http://edh.cern.ch, log in with your AIS login, click on "Access
request"and then select the following choices:
LHC Installation Special work hours (LHCI-24) -> This
is needed to work on weekends and late/early hours
LHC Installation Access 07H/19H (LHCI-12)
ATLAS underground (ATLAS-U)
As justification, you should write something like "Work on
ATLAS Muon EndCap installation"
Sissor Lift Training
Go to http://sc-gs.web.cern.ch/sc-gs/gs_ms/ms/freq%20topics/te_mc_FT_users.htm
Follow the instructions. You will need a medical certificate
(less than 6 months since physical.) Just call your physician. Fax her
the form and have it sent back. The form must be sent the CERN Medical
Office. You also need the authorization certificate which Bing or Homer
or J must sign.
Follow the link in the above page in (1) (i.e. go to https://edh.cern.ch/Document/ACRQ/) Logon to EDH (http://edh.cern.ch with your AIS login ) if necessary. Apply for access authorization to: Use Working Platform (AC-N3)
Of course, access is only granted after passing the training
course. To take a training course you must sign up and then wait for
the course to be offered. It is given only in French. It has both
theoretical and practical components on a multiply
articulated, long-armed, mobile cherry-picker. It is quite fun -- and
does require that you really be alert and attentive.
